History of Kids’ Chance
The first Kids’ Chance organization was founded in 1988 by workers compensation attorney Robert Clyatt in Valdosta, Georgia. He developed the initiative after having been a direct witness to the dramatic effect that workplace injuries and fatalities can have on families, specifically the hardships it causes the pursuit of higher education for the children of the injured. After incorporating the inaugural Kids’ Chance group in Georgia, the organization began reaching out to other states to further expand the cause, and now 47 states in the nation have independent Kids’ Chance organizations.
