Our Mission
Kids’ Chance of Oklahoma History
Kids’ Chance of Oklahoma, Inc. was established in 2016. Our mission is to provide post-secondary and career tech school scholarships to the children of Oklahoma workers who have been seriously or fatally injured in a workplace accident. The children of these workers often lose opportunities for secondary education.
Kids’ Chance of Oklahoma is a non-profit organization raising funds for educational opportunities for these children to pursue their education, reach their goals, and fulfill their dreams for the future.
History of Kids’ Chance
The first Kids’ Chance organization was founded in 1988 by workers compensation attorney Robert Clyatt in Valdosta, Georgia. He developed the initiative after having been a direct witness to the dramatic effect that workplace injuries and fatalities can have on families, specifically the hardships it causes the pursuit of higher education for the children of the injured. After incorporating the inaugural Kids’ Chance group in Georgia, the organization began reaching out to other states to further expand the cause, and now 50 states nationwide have independent Kids’ Chance organizations stepping in to meet this need.
